Lieutenant DeRitis visited us to present his annual assembly on Fire Safety. Here are some of the
things we learned about what to do in case of a fire or other emergency.
- Make sure your family has a safe meeting place outside in case of fire.
- Put Child Safety stickers on the window and bedroom door of all children in the family.
- Stop, drop and roll if your clothes are on fire. Cover your face to protect yourself.
- Block smoke from under your door with a towel or clothing.
- Make sure the door is not HOT with the back of your hand.
- Never go back inside a burning place.
- Sleep with your bedroom door closed.
- Don't hide in your room. Firemen need to find you. Stay low to the floor.
- Call 9-1-1 to get help. Call from your house phone if you can so the computer knows where you are.
- If you call from a cell phone, FIRST say your address!
